Lana moved to New York City to study dance with the Merce Cunnigham Dance Company after gaining her Bachelors Degree at New World School of the Arts. While dancing in New York,

Lana received her Pilates Certification at the Kane School of Core Integration and became a licensed Pilates for Buff Bones Instructor, focusing on bone health and Osteoporosis. She later taught dance at the Errol Barrow Centre of Creative Imagination at the University of the West Indies.

Now based back home in Barbados, Lana’s love for Bio-Mechanics and mindful movement has started to rebel from one discipline into a fusion of different types of movement with a common thread which she houses at Body Mekanix Studio. Lana’s journey has merged her knowledge of moving with her Yoga training at Livity Yoga Studio to fuse movement principles into healthy ways of using the body fully. Not just anatomically, but also functionally, physically and spiritually.

We believe that movement as a form of healing therapy, and movement designed to push our physical limits, are equally important. We blend different techniques to help discipline the mind, guide the breath, build strength, mobility, balance, and relieve pain. We focus on postural alignment, Pilates, therapeutic massage, and Yoga therapy
